Leaving home

A young person waving goodbye

Nearly everyone leaves home or care – sooner or later.

You might want to:

  • live on your own
  • live with other people
  • stay with parents or carers
  • live in sheltered accommodation - this means there will be someone close by if you need help
  • live in a hospital to get special medical care.

A house

You'll need to think about:

  • how you want to live
  • where you want to live
  • what support you'll need
  • how much it'll cost

These will be able to help you:

  • Social worker
  • Local authority housing department
  • Connexions personal adviser
  • Independent disability support groups
