Benefits and Money to learn

Some money

If you're aged 16 or over you may be able to claim benefits if you're:

  • not earning very much money
  • looking for work
  • disabled
  • caring for a child or older person.

It can be hard to understand what benefits you can claim. These people can help and support you:

  • Social workers
  • Connexions personal advisers
  • Disability Employment Advisers at Jobcentre Plus offices.

Once you're over 16 you may be able to get money to help you stay in learning. This money can be used to pay towards:

  • transport
  • equipment
  • non-medical helpers
  • the cost of somewhere to live while studying.
